Sheri Werner is a professional educator with over twenty years experience in both the private and public sector. She co-founded a private, K-8th grade school where she served as Head of School for fifteen years before diving into public education as the Founding Principal of The City School in Los Angeles (6-8th grades).
Over 20 years ago, in searching for a school for her first child and not finding many viable options, Sheri stumbled into co-founding a K-8th grade private school, which became the impetus for her life’s work and passion – working with students, parents and educators. Through the process of building this school, it became very clear to Sheri that children learn best when they are educated in an environment that supports their social and emotional growth and safety, as well as their academic development. This discovery inspired her to spend the next 20 years creating and building public and private schools where students learn to:
- Develop compassion, respect, and acceptance of all people.
- Understand the impact that their words and actions have on one another and on the school community.
- Work together effectively and efficiently, communicating and addressing issues in a respectful manner.
- Become accountable for their behavior by accepting personal responsibility for themselves and their actions.
- Use reflection as a tool for self-assessment and change.
Working with educators, students, and parents over the past 20 years has proven to be a tremendously rewarding experience for Sheri. In addition to having the honor of creating safe environments for students, her individual work with parents, teachers, and students has enabled her to grow as both an educator and a human being. Having served in various roles as teacher, parent collaborator, school counselor, and Head of School, Sheri is excited to offer her services as a private consultant in a variety of capacities.
“Sheri Werner was instrumental in my daughters’ successes both in school and in life. Using a progressive curriculum that emphasized academic skills and social, emotional development, Erica is now attending UCLA Law School and today credits her educational years with Sheri as a touchstone to her success!”
“Every action of Sheri’s comes from a place of genuine kindness and sincerity. As a school leader, Sheri walks the walk. While she has always expected excellence and professionalism from her teachers, she always gives our emotional safety and well-being the utmost priority. Sheri has been a pillar of support over the years I have worked with her. I hope to use all that I have learned from her to become a kinder, more affectionate, and more empathetic person”
